A group of Georgetown Baptist Church members who were residents of Fettes Park decided to have an outreach point in Fettes Park. So early March 1958, the Fettes Park Gospel Center was established in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Khor. Initially there was only preaching services in English from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.
Members of Georgetown Baptist Church also supported the work here. Notable among the supporters were Mr. Carl Yarnell, Mr. Glen Martin and Dr. Minor Davidson. They were the President and professors at the Baptist Theological Seminary. They took turn to help in the preaching services.
A religious survey was carried out to determine the potential for Christian growth in Fettes Park. Regular visitation program was also implemented. As the number of worshippers increased, there was a need for a new place for the Gospel Center.
A new place was found at No. 14 Fettes Park with Mr. Yarnell as the Pastor.
On Sundays there were morning and evening services, Sunday School and Training Union. Bible Study was on Wednesday nights. Church membership grew from 25 to 80 people under the respective pastorship of Mr. Yarnell. Mr Albert Lim, Dr. Sidney Schmidt and B.C Thomas.
As the church grew in number, it was again time to look for a place to build a new church building. Funds for this purpose was secured from the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in February 1971. The new church building at no No.15 Jalan Meranti was completed and a dedication service was held on 7th June 1973. In 1983 and extension was added to the church building. It comprised the parsonage, a multi purpose hall and parking space. A dedication service for the extension was held on 7th October 1983.
